The Sierra Club named the University of Connecticut as the greenest college in America in Sierra Magazine last month. The university offers a long catalog of sustainability related classes and also grows much of its own food on campus, including honey, eggs and produce.
UConn also has a highly active faculty participating in environmental research, and has retrofitted its main campus to prevent thousands of tons of emissions every year. This is the Sierra Club’s 7th annual listing of green colleges. The Sierra Club is one of the longest running and largest environmental conservation agencies in the world.
